Increasing/decreasing retention for adjustable retention holster models
What to make your holster hold the gun tighter? Want it to hold looser? Read this article to find out how.
MDJ holsters are not only retention adjustable but they’re also ready to use straight out of the package. Certain holsters, may require a break-in period before the retention can be fully utilized. Here are some steps to take to get the most out of your holster’s adjustable retention.
Step 1: Check that the holster or magazine pouch is the correct model for your firearm.
Step 2: Ensure that your firearm is UNLOADED.
Step 3: Double check that your firearm is unloaded!
Step 4: Put the holster on your waistband in the appropriate location. Insert the firearm so that the pistol is fully seated in the holster.
Step 5: Draw the unloaded firearm to test the retention. This may need to be repeated a few times to get a good feel on what the retention is and how you would like to adjust it.
Step 6: Using a Philips screwdriver, adjust the retention screws by tightening or loosening the screw by 1/8 turn. Check the retention.
Step 7: Repeat Step Six until the desired retention has been achieved.
